LEARN TO SAIL INSTRUCTOR

Sandusky Sailing Center is located on Sandusky Bay, a 10 minute drive to Cedar Point and a 20 minute ferry ride to the Lake Erie Islands.  We are seeking enthusiastic, hard working, experienced Sailing Instructors and Race Team Coaches for the 2023 Summer season.  New instructors will work with our team of instructors and program directors to execute our Learn To Sail, Community Sailing, Adaptive and Junior Race Team programs.  The SSC runs its summer program with set up beginning in Mid/Late May and programming running June through Early/Mid-August and tear down is the week after our final Youth Learn To Sail program in August.  We have approximately 100 Junior Sailors and 100 Community Sailors ages 7 to 17 go through our programs every summer.  Our Sailing Fleet includes Opti sailboats, Club 420, and Lasers for our youth sailing programs and the race team.  Additionally, we have keelboats and trimarans that are mainly used for our private instruction, community and adaptive programs.

Race team coach!

We run all day and half day sessions of all SSC programming.  The Junior Race Team travels to regattas most Saturdays, resulting in travel on Saturday’s being required for the Junior Race Team Coach position.

We have an Adult Learn To Sail program and Community Programs Requiring Basic Keelboat Certification.  If you hold this certification, you would have the opportunity to instruct these classes as well.

In addition to the seasonal positions, we are also looking to expand our off season programming and potentially have openings for full time year round positions.  If you are interested in joining us for the 2023 season, please send a resume, along with sailing experience and 2 references to Michelle Gilboy at michelle@sailsandusky.org.
