History

Sandusky Sailing Center was founded by Sandusky Junior Sailors Inc.  Sandusky Junior Sailors Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation founded in 1962 that serves the sailing community of Northern Ohio.  Our programs are staffed by US Sailing Certified Instructors and Coast Guard Certified Captains.  Our programs are goal oriented and presented in a relaxed yet focused format providing an equal learning experience for beginner, intermediate or advanced level youth and adults.

We are proud to offer scholarships that open the door for students who would not otherwise be able to afford an introduction to the sport of sailing.  Past recipients have included students from Sandusky's Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Ability Works, Inc.

The most recent addition to our program is Adaptive Sailing.  Sandusky Junior Sailors Inc took over the Adaptive Sailing Program in 2019.  We partner with agencies in the community to offer adaptive programs for people with physical challenges that would otherwise make sailing difficult or impossible for them.
